Antonio Melica has been the Managing Director of Nissan in Portugal since October 1, 2017.
Antonio works at the Nissan group for over twenty years and previously held the role of Regional Sales Director at Nissan Europe, being responsible for the supervision and coordination of the brand's operations in the regions of Central Europe, Iberia and Russia, markets that represent around 40% of the European market.
Italian, Antonio is 47 years old, married and has two children. He assumes himself as a European citizen, as a result of, throughout his professional career, having lived in several countries in Europe, including Portugal where he was from April 2005 to December 2006 as Marketing Director. Antonio Melica studied in Holland, USA and Italy, where he graduated in Economics from L.U.I.S.S. "Guido Carli", Rome.
His journey within Nissan began in February 1998 with the Nissan Italy Marketing team
in Rome, having also passed through the Finance and Sales teams of the Nissan representation in that country.
He left Italy in 2003 to pursue his international career at Nissan, working in Paris, Lisbon and Barcelona. In 2008, he returned to Italy to assume responsibility for Sales and Marketing management for the Commercial Vehicles business unit. In 2010 and for a period of 4 years, he leads Nissan's Marketing department in that country, during which time Nissan achieves its best market share in Italy.
In 2014 he moves to Switzerland, to Nissan's European headquarters, in Rolle, where he takes over the general direction of Marketing at European level for the main and most exciting Nissan models - among them the Qashqai, the X-Trail and the mythical GT -R - before holding the position prior to his appointment as Managing Director of Nissan in Portugal.
